The research question concerns the best practice for educatingamputee veterans with head trauma on the use of new prosthetics. Inthis respect, it would be proper to use a qualitative design methodto acquire feedback.
Amputee veterans with head trauma could be interviewed to relatetheir experiences. The patients could be allowed to state how theyused new prosthetics in their daily activities. Moreover, theinterviewer would inquire to know the person’s opinion regardingthe effectiveness of the artificial limbs. Questionnaires may also beused to evaluate how the new prosthetics contributed to functionalperformance. In many instances, veterans with head trauma lack thenecessary information on how to manage their daily affairs (Olenick,Flowers, & Diaz, 2015). Issues such as money management,household chores, and other activities were neglected (Resnik et al.,2012). Additionally, the lack of limbs limited the movement of manyveterans. Consequently, the design method must focus on the differenttechniques used to educate amputee veterans.
A pre-experimental study could also be developed to evaluatedifferent groups of amputee veterans. For example, occupationaltherapists could mail valuable information to one group of olderpersons. On the other hand, the second group could be educatedthrough regular sessions at the healthcare facility. Consequently,health outcomes for the two groups can be compared to examine theobservable effects.
A qualitative design method will provide thematic data to answer theclinical question. In this regard, comprehensive data will becollected using open-ended questions. Furthermore, qualitative designmethods would utilize techniques such as focus groups, personalobservations, and case studies. The issues and subjects covered inthe research are evaluated in depth to capture detailed information.In addition, the framework is quite flexible such that quick changescan be made whenever fresh findings emerge.
