ClinicalField Experience

Iselected Howell Child Health Care Center located in Carolina to do myclinical field experience. I had an opportunity to talk with theorganization’s director who has been employed in that healthfacility for over thirty years. I learned that the main objective ofthis facility is to provide training which enables individuals withany developmental disability to function at the highest levelprobable. Howell has also been providing services and support foradults and children with developmental and intellectual disabilitiesfor more than thirty five years. The clinical officers workmeticulously with families and individuals to make life as sovereignas possible. They offer several programs and services such asinnovation waiver program.

Things learnt in the meeting

Clinical education involves both practical and theoretical processes.

Clinical training is highly indispensable and very vital part of education for professional nursing.

Practical skills for clinical lie mostly at the of nurses’ professional practice.

Nursing teachers have to be in charge of clinical practice since they are the ones responsible for learning in the clinical practice.

It is the clinical area that students have to relate theory to practice, learn interpersonal skills and necessary technical skills. Make clinical judgments, begin to appreciate clinical values and ethics and become socialized into clinical profession.

Clinical competence evaluation refers to an integrated form of evaluation which seeks to combine understanding, technical skills, knowledge, problem solving, ethics, and attitude in evaluation.

Evaluation is one of the important principles of development.

Students in clinical evaluation must have a relevant professional behavior and be able to establish a meaningful interaction with all the patients, prioritize their problems and have a basic knowledge about the clinical methods.

Students to be allowed for internship after each and every semester.

How to use what learnt as a teacher

Perform clinical evaluation of all students promptly.

I will have to reduce my workload to ensure that I have sufficient time and opportunity to identify my students during the semester.

I will make sure I provide students with feedback during and after OSCE examination.

Provision of clinical students with clinical evaluation instruments so that they can do formative evaluation.

Conduct OSCE in greater quality for students to have a better understanding.

Add evaluation tools and methods during evaluation.

Avoid incorrect performance of the formative clinical evaluation.

Know what the students the students expect to do during apprenticeship and what they ought to learn.

Have my own special rules.

Have an appropriate and a comprehensive evaluation tool which I can use to assess the students during their evaluation.

Provide background check verification through provision of a copy of the students’ public student identification cards and most recent pay stub.

Inconclusion, all clinical field experiences are very important and canbe developed through having advanced programs. As a student, one needto interact and associate with professionals in different schools andcommunity health agencies and sites. A clinical candidate has anopportunity to apply skills, dispositions, and understanding in realworld settings and can also reflect on their effects on studentlearning programs.
