Ethicalbehavior is a central concern for both business and individuals as itis usually viewed as a moral when utilized for persuasive reasons.This paper discusses the importance of ethical behavior and itssignificance in persuasion (Rossi, &amp Yudell, 2012). It alsodefines two moral theories and establishes the effect that itencompasses on persuasion. The paper also describes the currentactivities where morals and lack of ethics greatly influence theaspect of persuasion.

Thesignificance of ethical behavior in persuasion is viewed at the rootof human kindness since it is considered to be the origin ofcivilization. Ethical behaviors are often important in persuasionbecause it determines the organization reputation to the public aswell as to its employees. Persuasion is important in ethical behavioras it stands by a set of accepted regulations that are intended at astatus quo performance such as a diversity of individuals who choseto obtain the advantages of the acts which is basically what isneeded from us (Messina, 2007). Persuasion is often what leadersemploy to direct their employees to make the correct choices and canalso be used by drug abusers to persuade the unsecured individuals totake a particular drug for the first day so as to fit in with thegroup. Ethical behaviors vary across the globe that makes itextremely important with regards to business practice.

Ethicalbehavior is important during persuasion because open communicationhas a role to be morally crafted as it can change the visualizationof the party being persuaded. Rossi &amp Yudell (2012) illustratedthat persuasion is not seen as something that one does to the other,but rather with one another. The aspect of persuasion is consideredto be a step that should be ethical for it to be successful. Duringpersuasion, an individual will enhance most of the communicationskills since it promotes understanding between the affected parties.Ethical behavior illustrates that persuasion is more of a personwriting the message it is more than the purpose they have whileconveying that particular information and more than their capacity ofsending it. Adolf Hitler is an exceptional example of an individualwho persuaded several people to behave in an unethical manner.According to Messina (2007), to persuade effectively, the sender ofthe message should be in a position to ensure that the audiences arebeing informed of the message objectives and that they have thecapability to inquire about information that can challenge thesituation of the message sender. Additionally, a corporation of themedia channels could be said to be unethical if the information theyacquire has little or insufficient access to other messages oropinions. In the current world, we require ethics as persuasioncomprises not only the receiver ability and motivation to process theinformation and formulate a decision but also their duties forlooking for diverse information that refutes or proves what is givento them in persuasive information. If the parties involved are notaccountably held, then no persuasion is successful because of eithermisunderstanding or unethical approach applied.

Althoughthere are diverse ethical theories that heighten the aspect ofpersuasion, Unitarian theory is one that has been widely used. Thisparticular theory is based on the analysis that the accurate actionis the action that basically generates the biggest advantage for eachof the involved people. Unitarian theory heightens that persuasioncomes into play because Unitarianism attempts to exploit satisfactionand also lessen distress for each person. With the basis that theright action will generate the maximum benefits persuasion can beemployed to guide an individual into committing the right action(Simons, &amp Jones, 2011). For instance, several people agreestealing is wrong since the impacts of shoplifting from one anothercause more sufferings than satisfaction for all the concernedparties. The aspect of persuasion can be employed to compel the thiefinto picking the product, using peer pressure to modify or persuadehis or her mentality not to steal. This action basically makesapparent that Unitarian ethics involves choices and choices engrosspersuasion.

Anotherethic theory that could be effected by the aspect of persuasion isthe human rights theory. These types of rights are utilized by thesociety where someone lives (Messina, 2007). In the USA, the countryhas the Constitutional Rights that outline what the forefathersbelieved to be utilized to direct its resident in their life quest, apursuit of pleasure and liberty. There is also the human rightsethics like enforcing the death penalty. An example that bestillustrates the aspect of persuasion is that in Europe following theWorld War II’s destruction and deaths, the European Council wasinitiated as a way to safeguard human rights that comprised oferadication the death penalty. When Ukraine joined the Council, aninstantaneous moratorium on execution was anticipated to beacquiescent with other countries. Ukraine disregarded the moratoriumand it was in this period that execution was vastly raised. TheEuropean Conventions were able to persuade Ukraine to stop thepenalty of death using diverse threats that they might not go on andallow them to be an associate of the Council of Europe if they didnot conform to the persuasion. Conversely, the Ukrainian people, aswell as other nations in the Council of Europe, were in support ofthe penalty of death and their residents were attempting to swayUkraine to prolong the execution. Eventually, though Ukraine was insupport with the penalty of death, under the Council of Europepersuasion, they opted to eliminate the death law so as to keep theircontinued association because of diverse benefits they received.

Conclusion

Inconclusion, it is easy to observe ethics and persuasion relate withone another and how they can be used in both unethical and ethicalsituations because, for each reason or right an individual belief in,there was a prior persuasion that guided them to those particularbeliefs. Essentially, an individual may acknowledge why they thinkand what they think, however there is often the persuasion act toimpose those particular beliefs or ultimately lead them to astray.Ethics and persuasion often give us room to communicateappropriately, respectfully and honestly (Spahn, 2012). Ethics formsa foundation of a refined community ethical behavior is important tothe process of persuasion as it enhances communication to beestablished in a humane approach, and its importance is manifested bythe development of communication progression that has been widelystudied and practiced for several years.
