Inits grant, CC predicted that students will learn most effectivelywith a constant reminder about events at the college, as opposed tounpredictable notices or no notices at all. This fall we willrandomly divide twenty-four students into three groups of eight. Allstudents will learn about the CC mobile app. Those in group 1 studywill get the consistent reminders. Those in group 2 will getoccasional reminders. Those in group 3 will get no reminders. If Iconstruct an F test describe what it would look like? How would Ihave to set this test up?

Howthe F-test will Look Like

ANOVAis used in determining whether the means of the 3 or more groups aredifferent. It tests the statistical equality of means of groups usingthe F-test. In the CC case above, it is predicted that students willlearn more effectively with constant reminder about events at thecollege, as opposed to unpredictable notices or no notices at all. Inhis case, the ANOVA test will be used to test a null hypothesis thatthere was no difference in the mean performance of the three groups(i.e., mean for the group that got consistent reminders, mean for thegroup that got occasional reminders and mean for the group that gotno reminders). Since it is anticipated that the group that gotconstant reminders will learn most effectively and perform betterthan the other groups, F-test will be such that F-calculated valuewill be greater than the critical value (F-. WithF-calculated&gtF-critical value, the null-hypothesis should berejected.

HowI will set this test up

Thisset up will done by creating a null hypothesis and alternatehypothesis. The Null hypothesis will be states as follows: there willbe no difference in means of the three groups (group 1, group 2 andgroup 3). On the other hand, the alternate hypotheses will be stateas follows: there will be a difference in means of the three groups.The significance level will be set at 0.05. The null hypothesis willbe tested by performing an ANOVA test. The null hypothesis will berejected if the F-calculated is found to be greater than theF-critical. On the other hand, results will be significant if thep-value is less than the significant value (0.05). For this reason,the null hypothesis is rejected.
